Throughout 2020 Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust (MCFT) and Holmusk collaborated to rapidly develop an existing digital solution (MaST) enabling a clinical response to the increased level of need for vulnerable mental health service users due to the impact of Covid-19.
MaST COVID 19 helped all MCFT mental health teams to ensure that mental health ‘shielding’ services users and non-shielding service users with severe mental illness were identified and prioritised for safe follow up by MCFT. All mental health service users, regardless of severity of their illness, received regular proactive ‘social check-in’ contacts to manage the emotional and social impact of Covid-19.
This programme meant that despite the challenges of managing community healthcare under the covid restrictions the quality of care for community mental health patients increased during and throughout the pandemic.
MaST continues to grow in offer and recognition and the team is looking forward to making further positive impact on the daily working lives of mental health staff and services users.
